Gold Coast Jazz Fort Lauderdale Concert reviews
Sad day when one of the greatest blues men has given up.
"I saw Gold Coast Jazz Guy many times in the 90's and it was always a mind blowing experience. Last time I saw him was in 2008 at Legends during his Jan residence. That was pretty much the exact same show he performed here. Now, if it was equal to the type of performances he was doing in the 90's, I'd have nothing to complain about but it was nowhere close. Somewhere along the way this once wonderful artist decided it was okay to play only a few complete songs, talk dirty, play snippets of several other musicians' music, and allow his band to take up the real performing. Now maybe this is where he's at at his age and I have some sympathy for that situation but I want to see Gold Coast Jazz. I paid to see Gold Coast Jazz, not hear blurbs of Howlin Wolf or Muddy Waters. Even if he played the entire songs by those greats, I would be fine but bits and pieces are maddening. I do not need a lesson on the greats of the Blues. I am a fan of the Blues. I have seen many of the greats. I am well aware many have passed. You want to keep the Blues alive then play the damn songs and shut up. I don't mind some banter but it was just too much. Lil Ed was fantastic. Gold Coast Jazz's band was amazing. I'd pay to see his band. I will always love his music. Always. I just won't waste good money to NOT see him perform any of it. I will never pay to see Gold Coast Jazz again. I am a big fan of Gold Coast Jazz Guy."
